Since it was founded in 1906, Babcock Laboratories has been conscious of its responsibility to protect the environment and public health and make social, educational, and economic contributions to the community. In fact, we were actively giving back long before the term “Corporate Social Responsibility” or “CSR” was coined. CSR is “a company’s sense of responsibility towards the community and environment (both ecological and social) in which it operates. Companies express this citizenship: (1) through their waste and pollution reduction processes, (2) by contributing educational and social programs, and (3) by earning adequate returns on the employed resources”1. These days CSR is becoming increasingly important to consumers and business partners, and we at Babcock Labs certainly understand why. In many ways an organization’s CSR efforts are a direct indication of that organization’s integrity. After all, a company that is unwilling to protect and give back to the community which supports it tends to generate suspicion about the company’s business dealings and practices.
Throughout our history Babcock Labs has made it a priority to protect and give back to the community and environment in which we operate. Until recently we have kept these activities and our accomplishments mostly to ourselves. However, in 2014 Babcock Laboratories was recognized by the Press Enterprise for its CSR efforts. With this recognition, we were reminded that our CSR efforts are significant and relevant not only to our staff, but to our community and the clients we serve. Therefore, Babcock Labs is excited to announce the launch of its Babcock CSR webpage. The new page will navigate visitors through our various CSR efforts, including: our waste and pollution reduction processes, our contributions to social, educational, and industrial programs, and the returns on our employed resources. Visit the new page today at www.babcocklabs.com/CSR.html.
We are very proud of our CSR efforts and our staff who make our environmental, social, educational, industrial, and economic contributions possible. We are strongly committed to protecting the environment and public health, and know that our analytical services as well as our CSR efforts are evidence of that commitment.
