This past month the California Association of Sanitation Agencies (CASA) held its 60th annual conference in San Diego. The conference, themed “Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future,” revisited milestones in wastewater history and previewed potential challenges and solutions the industry may face in the coming years. Along with the various informative sessions that took place, CASA also announced the 2015 CASA Education Foundation scholarship recipients.
Last year CASA established the CASA Education Foundation (CASA EF), which is a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation. The mission of the Education Foundation is to enhance the future of California’s clean water community by attracting new professionals into the industry with scholarship opportunities. The scholarships are available to California residents pursuing undergraduate education in engineering, environmental science, public administration, or other related fields, and showing an interest in serving the clean water industry. This year, with the help of various contributions from the organization’s members and supporters, CASA EF was able to award two $5,000 scholarships! Babcock Laboratories is proud to be one of the contributing organizations who helped to make the scholarships available to these two future industry leaders.
So on behalf of all of us here at Babcock Labs, congratulations 2015 CASA EF scholarship recipients! We can’t wait to see how the clean water industry will benefit from your service and innovation.
